Jump or climb on the bandwagon

“Jump or climb on the bandwagon” means to follow a trend or to do what is fashionable. In French: prendre le train en marche, suivre le mouvement.

In America, a bandwagon is a truck, often with ornate decorations used in circuses or to carry musicians in parades in town. However, this object was used in the half of the 1800s by political candidates to gain support during political rallies, climbing on the candidate’s wagon was a sign of support.

Example: he does not jump on the bandwagon, but he singles himself out.
